Application Process
All prospective applicants must complete Optometry Centralized Application Service (OptomCAS) application to be considered for admission into our program. The later you apply, the more competition you will have as many of the seats will have already been filled due to the rolling admission process, so apply early!
2026 Application
Opens: June 29, 2025
Closes: May 1, 2026 (11:59 pm EST)
All application materials and application fees must be received on or before the deadline. Application materials or fees received after the deadline are considered late and may not be processed.
Admissions Timeline
Application
June 29
Applications open.
Mid July
Application processing begins. Candidates will receive emails for:
- Acknowledgment of OptomCAS application receipt
- A list of any missing materials
- Notification when your application is complete and sent to the Admissions Committee
May 1
WesternU’s deadline to submit a completed OptomCAS application, along with associated fees.
Interview
September–May
Selected candidates will be invited via email for an on-campus interview.
Admission Offers
October–August
It is difficult to predict exactly when you will hear back with an update on the status of your application. Acceptances can be offered as late as the first date of classes.
Accepted Candidates
If accepted, a $500 nonrefundable deposit will be due in 14 days.
