About the Interview & Interviewers

To help ease the stress of the interview, we would like to give you a brief overview of what to expect for the day and specifically share with you the structure and composition of the interview team. You will hear from faculty and administration about the curriculum, admissions process, and student services. You will also have a Q&A with faculty.

Interviews at WesternU are meant to be an exchange of information in a warm and welcoming environment. It is an experience that is both positive and enjoyable for the student applicants. Our interviews are never meant to be threatening nor confrontational in any way. Applicants have been selected by the admissions committee because they exemplify those qualities that we feel are important in the health care professionals whom we educate.

About Your Interview 

What to expect once you’re in the room.

Format

Traditional, one-on-one General and behavioral-based questions

Length

25 minutes

Interviewers

• Faculty, staff, and alumni You may meet more than one over the day

Setting

• In-person On the Pomona, CA campus

Student Panel

• Will take place online on specific Friday evenings

Purpose

• Getting to know you. Qualities your application alone can’t show
• Behavioral questions ask you to draw on real personal experience — it’s worth thinking through a few specific examples from your own background before the day, rather than preparing general talking points.

Preparing for Your Interview Day

A short list — nothing here should be a surprise the morning of.

• Have your best business professional attire ready to wear
• Prepare a few questions of your own for faculty Q&A
• Bring a pen and notepad in case you’d like to take notes
• Get a good night’s sleep so you’re at your best

Getting to Campus

Where to go, how to check in, and where to park.

Interview Location

Health Sciences Center (HSC)

450 E Second St, Pomona, CA

A photo ID is required at check-in. Report to the HSC lobby and check on the first-floor.

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled check-in time so you have ample time to park and walk over.

Parking Instructions

Parking will be available in Lot 12, which is a paid city parking lot located on Gibbs Street and First Street. You may find the location of Lot 12 on our campus map. The city parking meters accept both coins and cards as a method of payment. Parki  ng on the lot is free for the first two hours, after which there will be a flat rate of $2.00. After parking, please check in at any payment machine for paid parking. The receipt does not need to be displayed in the vehicle. Please do not park in the WesternU Health Center parking structure, as individuals without a proper parking pass may receive a ticket.

Identity Verification Policy

Federal law (the Higher Education Opportunity Act, Public Law 110-315) requires WesternU to confirm that the person completing enrollment and taking exams is who they claim to be.

You’ll need to provide a government-issued ID at check-in. If you’re unable to provide acceptable identification, you may be able to reschedule your interview, space permitting.

Flying in? 

Ontario International Airport (ONT) is closest, about 10 miles east of campus. Santa Ana/John Wayne (SNA) is roughly 30 miles south, and LAX is about 40 miles west.

• The admissions committee reviews your full application alongside your interview before making a decision.

• Decisions are typically Accept, Alternate, or Not Offered Admission at This Time. Timing varies by cycle — your portal status is always the fastest way to check.
