WesternU is Dedicated to Supporting our University Community’s Well-Being

President’s Office

February 13, 2025

Dear WesternU Community,

Following the announcement of recent federal mandates, we recognize that many within the higher education community may feel uncertainty and anxiety. Like institutions across the country, our students, faculty, and staff are processing the potential impacts of these orders.

As the preeminent medical sciences graduate university in the nation, WesternU will always remain true to our distinctive humanistic mission, values, and vision, and continue to fulfill our mission of addressing current national healthcare professional shortage crisis by offering top-quality medical sciences training through its unprecedented eight colleges (e.g. Medical School, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Graduate Nursing, Podiatric Medicine, Optometry), an institute (e.g. Interprofessional Behavioral Health), and over 30 programs.

None of the recent federal actions have altered this commitment, as WesternU leadership continues to collect real-time information to evaluate the potential impact and develop institutional guidance, as appropriate, that is mission consistent. WesternU remains steadfast in supporting the access, safety, and success of all students and employees.

I believe that in times of change, we must look to our founding principles of humanism to maintain stability and stay true to who we are as an institution. At WesternU, we will continue to embrace and highly value the various backgrounds, beliefs, perspectives, and voices represented in our university community. Together, we will find strength in one another and let our founding values guide us forward.

Our core values are deeply connected to our humanistic tradition and our mission to enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve. WesternU has always been, and will always remain, dedicated to training healthcare professionals who provide compassionate, patient-centered humanistic care to their patients and communities, whose health they promote.
