Minimum Wage Increase

President’s Office

June 17, 2022

Good afternoon WesternU Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to share with you that WesternU will increase the minimum wage paid to full-time employees from $15 per hour to $17 per hour, effective July 1, 2022.

WesternU is going beyond the minimum wage standards of our two home states in recognition of the disparate impact the current economic climate has on our lowest paid employees. The minimum wage in California is $15 per hour. In May, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced this would increase to $15.50 on Jan. 1, 2023 as part of his proposed Inflation Relief Package. The minimum wage in Lebanon is $12.50 per hour. These are difficult financial times, and we want our employees to know that we are actively considering and analyzing additional measures to assist lower-paid employees.

At WesternU, we remain united and committed to our noble mission in service to our students and our communities – To produce, in a humanistic tradition, health care professionals and biomedical knowledge that will enhance and extend the quality of life in our communities.

My very kindest regards,
Robin
