Memorial Day
President’s Office
May 26, 2025
Dear Members of the WesternU Community and Family,
On this very special day of remembrance and tribute, Memorial Day permits us to pause as a nation, and as a university, to honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation.
As a graduate medical sciences institution, we are deeply aware of the critical role that healthcare professionals have played, both on and off the battlefield, in preserving life and upholding the values of humanism, compassion, courage, and service. Today, we remember not only those who gave their lives in defense of freedom, but also the medics, nurses, doctors, and researchers who have supported our troops through generations of conflict and recovery.
Memorial Day reiterates the profound cost of liberty and the enduring strength of those who serve. Moreover, Memorial Day is a call to reflect on our own commitments to service, education, and healing.
Please join me in a moment of remembrance today. Whether you observe with family, participate in a local event, or simply take time for quiet reflection, I encourage you to carry forward the legacy of those we honor, not only with words, but through actions that promote care, justice, and community.
Warmest regards, and with gratitude and respect,
Robin
