Campus Closure – Tropical Storm Hilary

President’s Office

August 18, 2023

Dear WesternU Community,

The number one priority for WesternU is the safety of its Community.

Out of strict adherence to safety, and the University’s commitment to protect its Campus Community, the WesternU – California Campus will close on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and temporarily move to a remote work status.

The closure is in anticipation of the tropical storm forecast for Sunday and Monday, and the need to ensure safety for our Students, Faculty, and Staff, during the storm, and in the aftermath of the storm.

Each Dean is in the process of moving their respective Colleges to a virtual setting for both Monday and Tuesday.  The IT Department is available to assist students, faculty, and staff with transitioning to a remote environment.

Kindly refer to the communication from the Institutional Shared Serves (ISS) mailbox outlining the coordinated preparatory efforts underway on campus, and how best to reach ISS to report any noted issues of concern.

However, critical and/or essential staff or functions are currently being assessed to determine whether there may be a need for an on-campus presence for the continuity and/or availability of specific campus services.

The immediate objective for the University is to ensure the safety of our Students, Faculty, and Staff. Please join the Campus Community in working together to align behind these goals.

Be safe!

Thank you!

My very warmest regards,
Robin
