Armenian Crisis

President’s Office

September 26, 2023

Dear WesternU Family,

On behalf of the University Executive Operations Team (UEOT), I’d like to express our concern for the safety and well-being of Armenians in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and specifically in Artsakh, amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the area. We stand united with our students, many of whom have familial and cultural heritage in Armenia, to condemn the violence, killings, and humanitarian plight. I want to thank the WesternU Armenian Students for their highly valued input and education on this critical issue.

As a community rooted in healing, WesternU likewise stands strong in its commitment to reject violence in every form, anywhere in the world, as a way to resolve conflict. We believe that WesternU must always remain true to its humanistic core values and voice its mission of care for our human family. We call upon individuals and communities worldwide to demand a peaceful resolution to this crisis.

We encourage all WesternU students to look out, care for one another, and prepare to practice the humanism that the world so desperately needs now. Please do not hesitate to contact either of the support services below, which may be helpful during these challenging times.

Now more than ever, stay true to your WesternU humanism as you study, work, and become the healers our world needs.
