Resignation from the Board of Trustees of Western University of Health Sciences

President’s Office

May 3, 2023

Dear WesternU Staff, Students, and Faculty:

It is with mixed emotions that I share that Elizabeth Zamora has resigned from her role as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Western University of Health Sciences. Chair Zamora served WesternU with steadfast loyalty, dedication, integrity, and selflessness for the past five years!

During her tenure, Chair Zamora piloted the University through challenging times while overseeing a multitude of successes, including but not limited to a culture shift toward a mature University, the launch of a BOT Scholarship Program to support underrepresented communities, the introduction of a Capital Campaign, the initiation of an Institutional Strategic Business Plan – Designing WesternU’s Future – and the successful recruitment of eight key administrative leaders.

Most importantly, Chair Zamora has supported WesternU students, staff, faculty, deans, and administrators. It has been an honor, a pleasure, and a privilege to serve as WesternU’s third President under her leadership.

Chair Zamora’s resignation from the Board of Trustees was effective as of April 28, 2023. She provided appropriate advance notice of her intention to step down to the Vice-Chair and me to ensure an orderly and stable transition. With this resignation, the Board of Trustees has voted on and approved the following updated slate of Board Officers, effective April 28, 2023:

  • Chair: The Honorable Consuelo M. Callahan, JD, LLM
  • Vice Chair: James M. Lally, DO, MMM
  • Secretary: Jeff Heatherington, BA
  • Treasurer: Nate Oubre, MBA

Please join me in expressing sincere gratitude to Chair Zamora for her dedicated and unfaltering service to the University.

My very warmest regards,
Robin
