As such, applicants must submit the Matching Funds request and receive approval prior to submission of any project proposal an external agency. These funds are designed to complement competitive extramural funds and to strengthen proposals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0Applicants must be full-time (100% FTE) CVM Faculty with a research appointment. The funding agency must be an extramural source offering competitive research grants. Faculty may submit for matching funds on multiple projects simultaneously, or in succession, as long as the applicant is in compliance with all previous Matching Fund Program requirements and report obligations. This award provides up<u>\u00a0to $2,000 toward the research project of a First or Second Year veterinary student mentored by a CVM faculty.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>This mechanism is designed to cover only project related research expenses, such as consumables and reagents. Students participating in these projects may also apply for the Advanced Laboratory Research Student Scholars Program to receive stipends during the academic year.\u00a0<u>Funded students are expected to present a poster at NVSS at the end of the summer Veterinary Summer Research Program<\/u>. Students can volunteer their time on these projects. Alternatively, they may receive funding from their mentor\u2019s grants, summer WesternU Part-Time Fellowship, or our College\u2019s Veterinary Summer Research Program. Projects must include hands-on methodology and data collection, but may be relevant to basic or clinical sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0Faculty must be full-time faculty in the College of Veterinary medicine\u2013 there is a limit of one application per faculty. Each faculty member may only submit one application as PI for this mechanism. This program is designed to assist CVM faculty members in pursuing and supporting collaborative projects with CVM Preceptors and, or other clinics and clinicians. The goal of these grants is to support Research Interest Groups in fostering scholarship of their members, preferably through initiatives that will benefit most members.<\/p>\n<p>Up to $10,000 may be requested for use within 12 months of award and submission of a final report detailing outcomes within 6 months after the end of the project. Use of matching funds from other sources is encouraged. Proposals must be endorsed by a RIG and only one proposal can be submitted per group. Proposals will be reviewed on an ongoing basis but must be received by the end of December each year.
