A veterinary medicine summer program is a great opportunity for young students to learn about the field of veterinary medicine and receive hands-on training with animals. WesternU CVM is proud to offer Summer Enrichment experiences that introduce students to the veterinary profession, pet nutrition and care, and immerses them in labs and other hands-on experiences.<\/p>\n

This program is available for youth ages 13-17 and focuses on offering students exposure to the veterinary profession, pet nutrition and care, and immerses them in labs and other hands-on experiences. Some of the activities and presentations during this annual program may include:

\r\n\u2022 Admissions, financial aid and how to get in and pay for vet school
\r\n\u2022 The diversity of careers in the veterinary industry beyond being a doctor
\r\n\u2022 Introduction to veterinary research, animal anatomy, pathology, and radiology, pet nutrition and first aid at home
\r\n\u2022 Farm animals, food safety and how veterinarians protect human health
\r\n\u2022 Sessions on equine medicine, zoo\/wildlife, and exotic animals
\r\n\u2022 Veterinary surgery and suturing lab including laparoscopic surgery
\r\n\u2022 Service dogs, therapy pets and their impact on human health.
