Effective September 12, 2024, WesternU has partnered with the SafeZone mobile app to provide our community with a powerful tool that will help keep our campuses safe. The free SafeZone app is available for both iOS (Apple) and Android (Google) devices. SafeZone delivers two-way, real-time interactions with our security team that includes location-tagged text, calls, photos as well as mass notifications. With the app, you can connect immediately with campus security either by a simple message, a photo tip, or a direct phone call. You can also access local resources.

About SafeZone<\/h2>\n

SafeZone was founded in 2011 and is now used across the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia at various higher education institutions.<\/p>\n

It allows the campus community to report anything unusual and campus security will see it in Dispatch. Conversely, messages can be sent to either all SafeZone users or those within a geo-fence (think chemical spill).<\/p>\n

SafeZone Features<\/h2>\n

Report Tips:<\/h4>\n

  1. Use to report activity on campus \u2013 there are many pre-programmed options for example: Accident, Mental Health, Suspicious Activity, Safety Hazard, Theft and Other.<\/li>\n
  2. Choose to be anonymous.<\/li>\n
  3. Choose to share your location.<\/li>\n
  4. Photos can be included.<\/li>\n
  5. Security monitors and responds to all tips.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Non-Urgent, Help, and Emergency Calling or Chatting:<\/h4>\n
      \n
    1. Call 911 from anywhere \u2013 you don\u2019t have to be on campus.<\/li>\n
    2. Call Campus Safety when on campus.<\/li>\n
    3. Message campus security if you are unable to talk on the phone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Wellbeing<\/h4>\n

      The Wellbeing button points to relevant resources, irrespective of time of day or location.<\/p>\n

      Check-in and Check-in Timer:<\/h4>\n

      SafeZone\u2019s check-in feature allows you to make your presence known if working alone, in areas of higher risk or late at night.<\/p>\n

      • Make people aware of your presence<\/li>\n
      • Share your location in an emergency<\/li>\n
      • Log your presence for administrative reasons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
