Fire Extinguisher Types & Maintenance<\/h2>\n

EH&S manages over 300 portable fire extinguishers at WesternU. Portable fire extinguishers are intended as a first line of defense to cope with fire of limited sizes. The presence of a fire extinguisher can save you from a catastrophic event.<\/p>\n

  • Fire extinguisher hands on training<\/li>\n
  • Monthly inspections (done by security)<\/li>\n

    Types of Fire Extinguishers<\/h3>\n

    ABC Dry Chemical<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Extinguishing agent: 5-20 pounds of mono-ammonium phosphate<\/li>\n
    • Use: Class A, B and C fires<\/li>\n
    • Range: 15 feet<\/li>\n
