GRE scores may be considered at the discretion of the Admissions Committee if the candidate\u2019s prerequisite and science GPAs are at least 3.0. DAT, MCAT or PCAT scores may be considered at the discretion of the Admissions Committee if circumstances make taking the OAT onerous or impossible. Please visit our <a title=\"Application Requirements\" href=\"\/optometry\/programs\/doctor-of-optometry\/requirements\/\">application requirements<\/a>\u00a0page for additional details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 5:<\/strong> <strong>Is there a minimum score on any of the standardized admissions tests you accept?<\/strong><br \/>\nThere is no minimum test score required at this time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 6:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>How many students will you be accepting?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe anticipate seating a class of 66 students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 7: Can I visit your campus?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe would love to have you on campus. If you are interested, please look at our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apply.westernu.edu\/portal\/tours\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scheduled tours<\/a>\u00a0page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 8:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Is there a secondary application that is required?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe do not require a secondary application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 9:\u00a0Do all prerequisite courses need to be completed at the time of application submission?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants have until June 30 prior to matriculation to complete coursework. However,\u00a0enrollment information of all prerequisites needs to be on file to move forward in consideration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 10:\u00a0What is the most important aspect of the application?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nWesternU takes a holistic review when considering the application. GPA, OAT scores, community service, essay statements, letters of recommendations, and optometric-related experience will all hold the same weight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 11:\u00a0Can I submit new OAT scores after submitting a complete application<\/strong>?<br \/>\nOur committee will review each application with one OAT score. If you started an application and didn\u2019t complete it, click on the appropriate term in this section.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Submitted Applications:<\/strong> Applications listed here have not been entered by Admissions Operations (AO). This could take 1-2 business days after you \u201cComplete\u201d your application. If your application has not moved to \u201cProcessed Applications\u201d after 2 business days, please contact Admissions Operations at <a href=\"mailto:Admissions@westernu.edu\">Admissions@westernu.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Processed Applications:<\/strong>\u00a0Check your application status and view outstanding requirements, by clicking on the term in this section. Status updates can take 5-7 business days after receipt of application materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Question 4: How do I check my application status online?<\/strong><br \/>\nLogin to the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/apply.westernu.edu\/apply\/status\">Admissions Application\/View Application Checklist Login<\/a>\u201d web page using the Login ID and PIN you created with your application. Under \u201cProcessed Applications\u201d click the Admission Term. Check\u00a0<a href=\"\/media\/optometry\/pdfs\/programs\/od\/online-app-status-incomplete.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Application Status<\/a>; if \u201cIncomplete\u201d, check for missing dates under Received column. Please keep in mind that it can take 5 to 7 business days, after receipt of your application materials, to post those items to your application. Please include your legal name, Login ID and program you applied for.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 6: How do I view the contents of my application after I have completed it?<\/strong><br \/>\nUnfortunately, once your application is complete, you cannot view the contents. We suggest that you print each section prior to completing your application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 7: When checking my application status, why do I see more than one term listed under \u201cProcessed Applications\u201d when I\u2019ve only submitted one online application?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you applied to multiple programs\/campuses via a Primary and\/or Secondary Application, you will see all active applications listed here by the term. This doesn\u2019t necessarily mean we have received all required applications\/materials. Please verify all requirements have been received. (See Question 4:\u201dHow do I check my application status online?\u201d above.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 8: What if I want to apply to more than one program? Do I need to create a new Login ID?<\/strong><br \/>\nYou can create multiple applications with one Login ID. Just select \u201cNew\u201d under \u201cApplications in Progress\u201d to start a new application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 9: Can I use my preferred name on my application?<\/strong><br \/>\nAlways use your \u201cLegal\u201d name on your applications (both Primary and Secondary). Nicknames\/Preferred names must not be used. If the program you are applying to requires a Primary and Secondary application, your name must match exactly for both applications to be properly applied to your record. Only cards with Visa and Master Card logos will be accepted. No checks, money orders, or cash will be accepted for payment of application fees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 12: What if I don\u2019t have a Visa or Master Card?<\/strong><br \/>\nPayment may be made with a Visa or Master Card prepaid gift card which can be purchased at many major chain stores or online. Please be aware that the gift card must contain a balance sufficient to cover the application fee in one full payment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 13: Are fee waivers accepted?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo, fee waivers are not accepted. To submit your online application, the application fees must be paid by credit card.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 14: What if I cannot find a College Code for a school I attended?<\/strong><br \/>\nPlease be sure to search for your school in the \u201cPrevious College(s) Attended\u201d section of your application using City and State by selecting the \u201cLookup College Code\u201d link. If your school is not listed, please send an email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:AO@westernu.edu\">AO@westernu.edu<\/a>. Please include your legal name, Login ID and program you applied for. The college codes in our system are WesternU specific and may be different from college codes provided by your institution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 15: How do I find a College Code for schools outside of the United States?<\/strong><br \/>\nPlease do not list foreign schools in the \u201cPrevious College\u201d section of your application. All foreign coursework must be evaluated (course-by-course) through an\u00a0<a href=\"\/optometry\/programs\/doctor-of-optometry\/foreign\/\">approved evaluation service<\/a>\u00a0(World Education Services or Josef Silny &amp; Associates). Instead of listing the foreign schools you attended, please list the service used to evaluate your foreign coursework. You can find World Education Services and Josef Silny&amp; Associates by selecting the Lookup College Code link and searching by Country and selecting \u2018Foreign Country\u2019 and City \u2018Foreign City\u2019.
