The MSHS Department encourages lifelong learning and participation in expanding the Public Health Education body of knowledge

  • The American Journal of Health Promotion is a peer-reviewed journal on the science of lifestyle change. The editorial goal of the American Journal of Health Promotion is to provide a forum for exchange among the many disciplines involved in health promotion and an interface between researchers and practitioners.

  • American Journal of Health Studies (AJHS) publishes feature articles and commentaries on the history, principles and philosophy of the practice of health education and health promotion. The process of health education and health promotion is reflected in the responsibilities and competencies for a Certified Health Education Specialist (www.nchec.org).

  • Family & Community Health is a practical quarterly which presents creative, multidisciplinary perspectives and approaches for effective public and community health programs. Each issue focuses on a single timely topic and addresses issues of concern to a wide variety of population groups with diverse ethnic backgrounds, including children and the elderly, men and women, and rural and urban communities.

  • Health Education Research deals with all the vital issues involved in health education and promotion worldwide – providing a valuable link between the health education research and practice communities.

  • Health Education Journal publishes high-quality papers on health education and health promotion as well as occasional book reviews.

  • Health Services Research (HSR ) oublishes outstanding articles reporting the findings of original investigations that expand understanding of the wide-ranging field of health care and help improve the health of individuals and communities.

  • Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved (JHCPU) is a peer-reviewed journal focusing on contemporary health care issues of medically underserved communities. JHCPU addresses such diverse areas as health care access, quality, costs, legislation, regulations, health promotion, and disease prevention from a North American, Central American, Caribbean, and sub-Saharan African perspective.

  • The Journal of Health Services Research & Policy presents the latest scientific research, insightful overviews and reflections on underlying issues, and innovative, thought provoking contributions from leading academics and policy-makers. It provides ideas and hope for solving dilemmas that confront all countries.

  • The Journal of Health & Social Policy provides a much-needed forum for social workers and those in health and health-related professions. This crucial journal focuses on all aspects of policy and social and health care considerations in policy-related matters, including its development, formulation, implementation, evaluation, review, and revision.

    • The mission of AAHPERD School Health Education is to advance the profession by serving health educators and others who strive to promote the health of all people through education and other systematic strategies.

    • The mission of NCHEC is to enhance the professional practice of Health Education by promoting and sustaining a credentialed body of Health Education Specialists. To meet this mission, NCHEC certifies health education specialists, promotes professional development, and strengthens professional preparation and practice.

    • SOPHE is a professional organization founded to provide global leadership to the profession of health education and health promotion and to promote the health of all people by: stimulating research on the theory and practice of health education; supporting high quality performance standards for the practice of health education and health promotion; advocating policy and legislation affecting health education and health promotion; and developing and promoting standards for professional preparation of health education professionals.
