An\u202fofficial\u202fscore report must be received before your application is sent to the Admissions Committee for review. Your DAT must be taken no later than December 1, of the year of application. DAT scores are valid for up to three years. DAT scores are valid for three years (based on the start of the application cycle). For the 2025 entering class, test dates prior to May 11,\u00a02021, are NOT acceptable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 3: Are you accepting DAT scores?<\/strong><br \/>\nAll DAT scores should be reported through AADSAS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 4:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Will you accept Canadian DAT scores?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo, we\u00a0do not\u00a0accept Canadian DAT scores at this time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 5:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>How many students will you be accepting?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe anticipate seating a class of 69-74 students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 6:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>When will applications become available?<\/strong><br \/>\nWesternU\u2019s College of Dental Medicine participates in the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS). Applications for the 2025\u00a0entering class will be available for submission May 30, 2024, via the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adea.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ADEA website<\/a>. Supplemental applications will be available on our website around the same time. Both applications and DAT scores are required to complete your application file. The application deadline is December 1. Applicants are urged to apply and complete their application files as early as possible. WesternU subscribes to the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) recommendation that dental schools notify applicants of provisional or final acceptance on or after December 1 of the academic year prior to the academic year of matriculation. For more information, please visit our\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernu.edu\/dentistry\/programs\/doctor-of-dental-medicine\/apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">apply now<\/a>\u202fpage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 7:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Do you have a limit on community college hours?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo. We do not\u00a0limit the\u00a0number of community college credit hours you can take.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 8:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Can I speak with a counselor about my application?<\/strong><br \/>\nFeel free to\u00a0<a href=\"\/dentistry\/programs\/doctor-of-dental-medicine\/contact\/\">contact us<\/a>\u00a0after reviewing the site with any additional questions you might have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 9:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>What recommendation letters do you require?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe prefer a letter from a Pre-Health Professions Committee. If a Committee letter is not available, three individual letters are required. Two must be from college-level science professors. The third can be from another college professor or a dentist with whom you have shadowed or for whom you have worked.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 10:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Will I receive an email invitation to complete the secondary application?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo, all applicants are required to complete the secondary application in order to be considered for an interview.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 11:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Will you accept prerequisite courses completed at a community college?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, we will but it is recommended that the majority of your prerequisites be completed at the university level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 12:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>If I do not see my college listed in the prerequisite database, does that mean you do not accept courses from that institution?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo, it is likely that courses just haven\u2019t been added from that institution. If are unsure a course is acceptable, feel free to email your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernu.edu\/dentistry\/programs\/doctor-of-dental-medicine\/contact\/\">Admissions Counselor<\/a> to check on it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 13:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Do you provide updates via AADSAS?<\/strong><br \/>\nDue to the volume of applications, we only periodically update statuses in AADSAS. You can always view your most current admissions status by logging into your WesternU Application Status page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 14:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Does AADSAS include Math courses in the Overall Science GPA?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, all undergraduate, graduate, and cumulative courses identified on your transcript as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math and Other Science is used in computing this GPA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 15:\u00a0Can I submit new DAT scores after submitting a complete application?<\/strong><br \/>\nOur committee will review each application with one DAT score. If you plan to retake the DAT exam during the application process, please notify your admissions counselor before the application is sent for committee review.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 16:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>What should be included in a Committee Letter?<\/strong><br \/>\nCommittee letters need to include direct quotes and comments from multiple professors or members of the committee, in addition all committee members\u2019 signature should be included<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 17<\/strong>: <strong>Are letters of interest accepted?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, please submit letters of interest or intent as supplemental documents within the WU application portal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 18:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Do all prerequisite courses need to be completed at the time of application submission?<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants have until Spring Term prior to matriculation to complete coursework. However, enrollment information of all prerequisites needs to be on file to move forward in consideration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 19:\u00a0What is the most important aspect of the application?<\/strong><br \/>\nWesternU takes a holistic review when considering the application. GPA, DAT scores, community service, essay statements, letters of recommendations, and dental-related experience will all hold the same weight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 20:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Can I request a refund for offer deposits?<\/strong><br \/>\nAll deposits are non-refundable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 21: How much do the applications cost?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThe ADEA AADSAS 2026-27 application fees are $264 USD for the first school an applicant applies to and $115 for each additional school. The secondary WesternU application costs $60.00 USD. All application fees must be received on or before the deadline for your application to be considered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 22: If admitted, how much is the admissions deposit?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe total deposit is $2,000 USD. For early admitted students, the deposit will be requested in two separate $1,000 USD. Applicants admitted later in the cycle are subject to one single payment of $2,000 USD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 23: When will I hear back regarding a final decision?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nOffers of admissions can be offered as early as the second week in December and as late as the first week of classes. To do so, visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apply.westernu.edu\/apply\/status\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">application status page<\/a>\u00a0and use the \u201cUpload Materials\u201d section of the page to submit your supplemental materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 3: What if I want to apply to more than one program? Do I need to create a new account?<\/strong><br \/>\nYou can apply to multiple programs using a single account. Visit our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apply.westernu.edu\/apply\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online application<\/a>, log in, and click \u201cStart New Application\u201d at the bottom of the page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 4: What address should I use if I need to mail any additional application materials?<\/strong><br \/>\nFor official transcripts please mail to:<br \/>\nWestern University of Health Sciences<br \/>\nAttn: Admissions Operations\/program you are applying for (MSMS, MSNE, etc.)<br \/>\n309 E Second Street<br \/>\nPomona, CA 91766<\/p>\n<p>For unofficial documents, please upload to the online application as indicated in the application instructions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 5: How do I pay my application fee?<\/strong><br \/>\nAll application fees require payments made by credit card. Only cards with Visa and Master Card logos will be accepted. No checks, money orders, or cash will be accepted for payment of application fees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 6: What if I do not have a Visa or Master Card?<\/strong><br \/>\nPayment may be made with a Visa or Master Card prepaid gift card which can be purchased at many major chain stores or online. Please be aware that the gift card must contain a balance sufficient to cover the application fee in one full payment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 7: Are fee waivers accepted?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, fee waivers are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Before you submit the secondary application payment, please email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:AO@westernu.edu\" rel=\"noreferrer\">AO@westernu.edu<\/a>\u00a0to request a fee waiver. Please include your full legal name, the program you are applying to, your application reference number, and your AADSAS fee-waiver approval in your email. If you have already submitted the secondary application payment, please email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:AO@westernu.edu\" rel=\"noreferrer\">AO@westernu.edu<\/a>\u00a0with the above information to request a fee refund.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 8: How do I withdraw my application?<\/strong><br \/>\nYou may withdraw your application by visiting the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apply.westernu.edu\/apply\/status\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">application status page<\/a>. Scroll to the bottom of your application and select withdraw my application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 9: How do I delete an application I accidentally started?<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants cannot delete their own application once started. Please submit a request to Admissions Operations at <a href=\"mailto:AO@westernu.edu\">AO@westernu.edu<\/a> to have it deleted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 10: I have applied to more than one program.
