The book chosen will be The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. More about the book can be found on Mel Robbins&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.melrobbins.com\/book\/the-let-them-theory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Every three weeks the group will meet via Zoom to discuss assigned chapters in the book. These will be in manageable segments to allow leisurely reading throughout the summer. Over the course of the book club, we hope participants meet other WesternU faculty and staff, gain some professional development, learn about themselves, and have fun discussing the book with colleagues. This is intended to be a fun and casual opportunity for summer professional development\u2013after all, the book is also about managing stress!<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I get the book?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe book is currently available as a free eBook through the WesternU library. Each week you can download up to 25 pages of the book. You can also choose to purchase eBook, audio, or hard copy versions if you prefer. This is a popular book and there are several used copies available on used book sites such as Amazon or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abebooks.com\/9781401971366\/Theory-Life-Changing-Tool-Millions-People-1401971369\/plp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abe Books<\/a>. Be sure to order your copy soon as delivery typically takes several days from used book sites.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What if I can\u2019t make every meeting?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe get it\u2013it\u2019s summer! We will be offering a couple of meeting opportunities each week of book club. Join the one that fits your schedule, or feel free to hop around based on your weekly calendar. Have a fun vacation trip planned? No worries! Catch up with the book and join us when you can. Again, this is meant to be a fun, casual professional development opportunity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What if I didn\u2019t finish the assigned reading in time for the meeting?<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile the goal is to discuss the assigned readings each week, if you didn\u2019t finish reading, don\u2019t let that prevent you from coming. Each week we hope to have discussions and would love for participants to chime in at whatever level they are comfortable with. You are welcome to join to listen in too. (Or catch up and join the Friday lunch time session.)
