FAQs

  • Q. Where are the student printers located on campus?

    A. There are student printers located in the LRC, RWC, HSC, VMC, HPC and HEC buildings. Please refer to the “Campus Printer Locations” PDF under the Pharos Help link at pharos.westernu.edu for more details.

  • Q. How much does it cost to print?

    A. Black & White documents cost $0.10 per page simplex (one-sided) and $0.19 per page duplex (two-sided), Color documents cost $0.65 per page simplex and $1.25 duplex.

  • Q. How do I add funds to my account?

    A. You can use cash (bills/coins) at the account stations located in the HPC Student Commons and the HEC 3rd Floor Student Commons. You can also give cash or check to the employees at the LRC Circulation Desk.

  • Q. I don’t have any cash – can I use my credit card to add funds to my account?

    A. Yes – to use a credit card or PayPal account, log into My Print Center at pharos.westernu.edu, then click the “Add Funds” link. Please refer to the video under the Pharos Help link for more details.

  • Q. I added funds to my account. How do I print my documents?

    A. The first step is to install the Pharos Popup Client on your laptop (please refer to the Popup Client Instructions PDF). Once installed, go to File > Print, select either the WesternU B&W or WesternU Color printer, then click Print. Sign into the touch screen or PC connected to the printer, select the document(s) you want printed, then select Print.

  • Q. Can I upload documents to the web for printing from my laptop or phone?

    A. Unfortunately, this feature is not supported at this time. You must install the Pharos printer drivers on your laptop or use one of the Student Commons PCs to send documents to the student printers.

  • Q. Can I print to the student printers from home?

    A. You must be on campus in order to send documents to the student printers.

  • Q. I submitted my print job but I don’t see it anymore. What’s going on?

    A. Any documents submitted to the student print queue will automatically be deleted after 24 hours. (You will not be charged for any documents that you sent to the print queue but did not print.) Also, if you submitted a Color document, you won’t be able to see it when using the HPC-N-SHARP-L printer, since this is a Black & White only printer. (This is the only B&W only student printer on campus.)

  • Q. I need to print something on Legal size paper. Can I do that on the student printers?

    A. The student printers are only configured to print on Letter (standard) size paper.

  • Q. Can I have my documents automatically stapled or hole punched?

    A. Unfortunately, the student printers are not configured for these features.

  • Q. What do I do if my print job doesn’t come through?

    A. For any printing related errors (paper jams, documents won’t print properly etc.), please contact Tech Support for assistance. Our hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM. We can be reached at (909) 469-5432 or techsupport@westernu.edu.
